FRAMING & FOLDERS
Recently I’ve been learning a new technique – in some places it’s called Out Of Frame or OOF for short. Others call it a 3D border.

For the Heading For The Rainbow I got the instruction from flickr . Here is a link to the tutorial [link]

For Lily I used a much simpler technique that I found in an English photo magazine called Digital Photo and the instructions were in the September issue. If you can’t get this magazine, but want to know how to do this, if you have Photoshop, I can possibly write down some simple instructions, however, I have not got the ability to make a tutorial, as such.

This morning I was directed to the gallery of :iconsilorverion: and I was pleased to find that she also uses this technique

This is my favourite

However, if you are not convinced that this framing can dramatise certain images, then please visit some of her more traditional submissions.
All are beautifully presented and she handles difficult lighting situations superbly.

FOLDERS
And on another subject. If you are a subscriber to dA and a Beta Tester, then did you know that you can now put your photos into separate subject folders in your gallery? For example, you can have all your flower shots in their own folder, your birds in another folder and so on. I’ve started to sort my gallery out into several folders, but let me warn you, unless you are a subscriber and a Beta Tester, then you wont see what I’ve done.

:new: For those having difficulties with this feature, you will find an excellent tutorial here. [link]

I like the OOF or OOB framming. It add's a real nice touch to you shots. I've tried to download the tutorial you linked, but I can't get it, or it won't let me. Is there another one some place?

Hmmm…I like this off-center version of the out-of-the-border trick I occasionally do!

It's an interesting effect, I quite like it with the floral and plant shots, it suits them well. I've heard about the folder system, sounds like a great idea!

WOW! that is an interesting technique! I do like it!
Nothing. All I get when I try to download it is an HTML doc. Thanks for trying though. :peace:

Interesting stuff Eve - hopefully the folders thing will be available to all members soon...that would've saved me from opening my new account :iconcolourwheel:...ah well :D

Great effect with framing - I'd like to know more about it. And I agree with pens-n-feathers about the folder-thing :)
