Western Rosella (Female) - Platycercus icterotis


Male: Red head, chest and belly, yellow cheeks, green and blue wings.
Female: green head, red/green chest and belly, green and blue wings. BreedsWinter-Spring.


These birds visit our garden for most of the year, but so far I have been unable to photograph a male. This was taken through the kitchen window, but they are mostly found down by the veggie patch where there are several grevillea shrubs.


They are the smallest of the Rosellas and their habitat is open forsts, woodlands, farmland and gardens in the South West corner of Western Australia.

Thank you very much :hug: We try to put plants that the birds love, close to the house. I have to get Jim to keep the windows clean :laughing:

beautiful bird. they are alway hard to capture, especially if oyu don't have an adequate equipment
