Artist's Comments

When I arrived at the Albany jetty I was very disappointed that the sky was cloud-covered and very boring, but as a pelican was nearby I couldn't resist capturing his actions as he preened his feathers. But once the pictures were downloaded onto my computer, I quite liked the effect, as is helps the pink beak stands out so well.

gosh you take some wonderful shots! This is fabulous and the way all his feathers show up on his neck is outstanding; had to fav this one! You are up early today! Of course you have daylight saving so you are only 1 hr behind us at present!

Thank you very much for your lovely comment and for adding it to your favourites.

As I write it is 6am, but I have been up since 3.30am, one of those nights when I had difficulty in sleeping. Before I had internet access I used to lie awake and fidget. :-(

I like how the background almost matches his feather coloring. His head and neck look so fuzzy. I love pelicans. They're always fun to watch. Especially when coming in for a landing in water. I am always amazed they don't break something the way they crash.

Nobody will know who you are, or what you have done if you don't have the balls to make some noise and shake 'em up!

Thank you very much  I always head for the pelicans environment during my lunch break on my weekly visit to Albany. There is always something new to see.

Nice close-up. His feathers look almost like fur, so fluffy :)
