Artist's Comments

Over the next few days you will meet four members of a a group of Galahs who visit my garden twice a day. They aren't a species that are natural to my area, however, I know that two escaped from a neighbours aviary and the other two appeared one by one over a few weeks.

Also known as...
Galah, Galahs, Rose Breasted Cockatoo, Rosies, Willock Cockatoos, Pink & Greys.
Range and Habitat
Found in Australia except in the extreme southwest and parts of Tasmania. Prefers open grasslands and savannah woodlands. Diet Seeds, grains and bulbous roots. Reproduction Most nesting takes place from August to November. Pairs separate off from larger group during breeding season. Male and female prepare nest in hollow tree hole lined with leafy eucalypt twigs. The birds strip the bark surrounding the nest's entrance. Female lays 2 to 6 white oval eggs.

Thank you Macky, it makes it much easier to photograph the birds when they visit your garden and you get to know their habits. :-)

Very nice capture! Glad to have the information on this bird - another of the many I have never see or heard of before-
thanks.
Thank you Roland, they add another dimension to my already colourful bird friends.

People are using my pictures and not asking. I'm quite willing for people to use them if they ask first. Hence the watermark.
