Australian Wombat

I thought my none-Australian watchers would like to see one of our delightful animals, the wombat. Held here by an animal worker at a wildlife centre in Perth, Western Australia.

I have never seen a wombat awake as they are nocturnal marsupials and are usually hidden away in deep burrows during daylight hours. So we were quite pleased to be able to get close to this one, even if he couldn't stay awake to say hello to the visitors.
